    Does not the acoustic of the performance venue play some part in the tempo to be chosen? Bruckner's "silences" are not as such but are the dissipation of the sounds within the normal acoustic of churches and cathedrals he worked in. This music is so beautiful it can sustain almost any well considered tempo.
